Sport and camp physical appointments are available; we can accommodate these exams in a timely fashion, convenient for you and your family.
Parents often wonder if their child needs a regular yearly physical if they have already had a sports physical. Camp and sport physicals are different from a standard physical. Concussion ImPACT Testing: baseline testing is performed at annual sport physical. Follow up testing is done as needed. Please remember that abbreviated sport physicals do not take the place of yearly physicals as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
A sports physical focuses on the health of your child as it relates to a specific sport or activity. It is more limited than a regular physical and more specific about athletic issues. In a regular physical, your provider will address issues unrelated to sports, focusing on growth and development, anticipatory guidance specific to your child’s age, and other preventative health issues. The provider will also ensure all vaccines are up to date.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or if you would like to schedule an appointment.
We will gladly complete these forms for you. In order to do this, your child should have a well child visit within the past 12 months. Visits for an illness address a specific problem and are not ordinarily comprehensive enough for us to complete these forms. There is no charge for completing these forms, but please allow us 48 hours. You can mail, fax them to 512.610.7034, or drop them off at the office. Just let us know the best way to return them to you.
Most camps or schools provide the parent with the forms as some want very specific information like the child's heart rate after jumping in place 10 times. Check your school or camp's website to see if they provide a specific form. We do provide a standard UIL form (for grades 7th -12th) in case a parent doesn't have one.
